Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. San Jose Residents Directory does not keep a copy of that query on its own servers. If a visitor sends a message, the mailbox receives the contents of that message and uses them to answer.
Ordinary Technical Logs
The hosting service records routine technical details such as an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. Those signals are reviewed in aggregate to maintain the pages and understand general use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or, where present, advertising measurement.
How the Data Is Used
Technical data helps operate the reference, troubleshoot faults, measure traffic, and improve pages. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from this limited information.
Outside Portals and Links
Pages link to Santa Clara County and California records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Each destination has its own privacy rules, which govern information entered there. The same applies to sponsored results supplied by another company.
Who May Receive It
Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs while supporting the pages. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. A valid legal demand can require disclosure; absent that need, the data is not shared beyond these functions.
Security and Retention
The pages use an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the purposes described above. There are no user accounts, so this service does not hold a password or personal profile that could be exposed through an account breach.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. Personal information from a person under 18 is not knowingly collected. If a minor's information was sent to the service, use the Contact page so it can be located and deleted.
Your California Privacy Choices
California's Consumer Privacy Act and Consumer Privacy Rights Act, including Civil Code §1798.100 et seq., provide rights that can apply to data held by covered businesses. Because this service keeps very little, an access, correction, or deletion request usually means checking the contact mailbox and relevant logs. Use the Contact page to ask.
The California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000-7931.000, governs access to identifiable public records held by state, county, and city custodians. Those offices control their own archives, deeds, court files, and directories. A request to remove a government record must go to the custodian and is subject to the rules that govern that record.
